Jane
Goodall is the Mother Teresa of chimpanzees. After seeing the articles on
the White Rhino, she allowed me to follow her around on her shirtsleeves,
while she promoted the opening of their new environment at the Oakland Zoo
in California. They seemed to remember her, and when she stood in front
of their enclosure, they huddled behind her like little kids. When I focused
in on her through my lens, I saw pure sadness. I was also honored that the
illustrator, Dugald Stermer used one of my photos for the feature illustration
for this story. |
