So
many people have asked me how I got my American Association of Sailing License
to charter yachts, I decided to do it again and write a story on it. In
ports worldwide, if you say that you learned to sail on the San Francisco
Bay, they just hand you the keys. The Bay is renown for its big winds and
gusts, strong tides, tricky currents, and dense fog. In the winter, it’s
twice as nasty as the rest of the year. Granted there are worse seas in
the world, but I’m not interested in rounding Cape Horn – just
bareboating. |
